Re: Thought for Today
Christians jews and muslims all worship the same god, yahweh the mythical god of war, admirably represented by all their entire histories.

Re: Thought for Today
NP,
You could be right.
However, only one of them preaches that it’s OK to murder anyone who doesn’t convert to theirs.
BTW, I don’t think that’s actually specified in the Koran.

Re: Thought for Today
The crusades perhaps, kill the Muslims because they are a different religion? Kill all the Jews because they worship different to some other religions, kill all the Palestinian people because they aren't Jewish ......
The age old argument, my imaginary friend is real, yours isn't .... The first time I saw Planet of the Apes part two, where they were worshiping the bomb, really hit home to me, and I was raised in a very strict Christian home ..... They were worshiping a higher power greater than themselves that could theoretically end all life on the planet .....

Re: Thought for Today
T1,
I didn’t include the Bible or the Torah because I know neither of them speak of killing non-converts, and I assumed that most people also know it.
I said PREACH, because there are always people who read what they want into any writing.
viz: Benjamin Netanyahu, Saddam Hussain, the Taliban, some bloke called Adolf (forget his last name
), Pope Urban II… the list is long.
And just as the apes in the film see God in a nuclear weapon.

Re: Thought for Today
The old testament, torah and koran, all tell followers to destroy all who don't believe. Then we have the christian invasions of every continent and island where they slaughtered, enslaved and abused the inhabitants, which still goes on today, our own continent is witness to that reality. Just about every war is fought between religious people and there's never been a year where there hasn't been a religious conflict or suppressive doctrine, like all ideologies they are built on control, suppression and deceptive lies.
The bibles people follow today are nothing like the original writings and then we have the fact all the religious books were written in the same century the 7th and all in the same area, and nothing at all before that time that can be verified. Before that time it was all just word of mouth, violent suppression and a decent investigation of the claims made by yaweh followers in their books, provides no support whatsoever for their claims. It's the reality of all religion and other ideologies which tell the truth, not the false fanciful claims and delusions put forward by followers. All current conflicts on the planet are religiously driven and the god fearing USA and russia a prime example of the hypocrisy of the belief system, our continent is the only one not in religious conflict and that seems to be changing fast.
They claim to be doing good works in poor countries, but it's the yaweh followers who turned those countries into the basket cases they are today and what they do today is nothing compared to the damage they did in the recent past and today.

Re: Thought for Today
Pre-departure on the Indian Pacific, we visited the World Wildlife Photography winners exhibition.
This pic was taken by a junior (under 14)! Which prompted the thought: What is the collective noun for a bunch of Lynxes?
I suggest “A CHAIN of Lynx.”

Lynx in? A shame it pixilates when enlarged, the original must have had a lot of depth to it ...... typical cat, "So you want to take my photo do you?"Greynomad wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 8:54 am Pre-departure on the Indian Pacific, we visited the World Wildlife Photography winners exhibition.
