You may remember from Derek's brake failure, the Alison auto and engine managment have a self protect feature, if the engine management determines the engine RPM are above a safe limit it will up shift the transmission. This vehicle should not have been allowed on the road without an exhaust brake or some form of retardation of the engine speed as this is the only method of slowing the vehicle in the case of a brake failure, if it doesn't have an exhaust brake then get one fitted.dapope wrote:No, no exhaust brake. 6 speed allison pushbutton auto, been reading manual etc about locking into low gear etc, but no need so far, all the big hills have been up!! My pattern is usually to brake briefly and reasonably firmly and then get the foot off the pedal to allow them to cool again.
I take notice of warnings to shift down gears, and that is when I lock into a lower ratio, and if anyone behind me gets annoyed, well then they should have got up earlierIts got some fancy air system, takes a minute or two to pump up and a button for handbrake, lots of hissing!!
Mrs Brown with the morons was bloody funny.... saw it recently
