Good morning one and all, going to be a shitter of a day today, already hot and no wind, (where is Chuckles?) Baby Galahs still just poking the head out for the occasional look around. G is out in his shed again before it gets tooooooooo hot in there. He was going to give the bus a wash today but just may be to hot up on a hot tin roof Keep cool C.U.

The air brakes have separate circuits, front and rear, and I would assume the push button spring brake controller is there as a backup. However, I take your point, and will be adding that to the list of must spend on features

I think it's time that some real engineer types sat down with a calculator & worked out the square inches of brake surface compared to weight of vehicle.
In my opinion Derek's & the one in the current discussion are far far too higher ratio.
I'd love to see some measurements done of those front & back brake drums.
Diameter of drums & width of brake linings.
It looks like only 16" tyres on it so it wouldn't have huge drums for starters.
Any vehicle can be driven safely regardless........

discs all round..... 19 inch wheels.... i have no doubt that I can lock the brakes! We have already had a couple of panic stops due to idiot drivers...its the long downhill runs. A lot of driving in NZ and in the south island in particular have taught me caution. i have just reread the chassis manual. 2800 revs = upchange to avoid engine damage. Will phone Derek later and get his advice. I have had ther start of runaways in the past, and slowed down enough to drop 2 gears and catch it before things got out of hand, however an exhaust brake sounds like extra good insurance!!(and I like dumping the soot on tailgaters)

Why not have a meet up when you get moving again? Derek & Jo are at St Kilda for another couple of weeks so they are on the right side of town, Plan your overnight stop wisely and you just don't know what could turn up huh

I've only put out the anchors once, it pulled up like a car, the navigator squeezing the arm rests helped too I'm sure.
It's the stamping the foot near through the passengers side floor that has the most effect, Margaret can near stop the kombi on a sixpence from the passengers side.... she jumps on the imaginary brakes that hard
I was silly enough to tell her to ease up on the brakes cause I was getting whiplash.... you know those long looks and silent treatment when they don't see the funny side of it
