Where to stay in or near Port Macquarie

We have to be in Port Macquarie for an appointment on Friday 26th April (day after Anzac Day) and looking for suggestions where to stay. I imagine a lot of people will take the Friday off to make a 4 day weekend so it may be busy. We prefer to stay away from Caravan Parks but in this instance wondering if that is our only choice and if we need to book. Any suggestions?

Kendall showground was still closed last Friday but they are trying to reopen it.

Coopernook Forest park #84, Camps6 is a huge area but need to be self contained, no water & only one septic toilet.

Do not stop at #89, Four Mile Hill rest area sth., of Taree has been several reported nasty incidents happen there in the past 12 mths.

Is Wauchope showgrounds open any more, we stayed there in 2010?

Beechwood Recreation Grounds also allowed us to stay there too, you need to ask at the Post Office.

Wauchope showground is under the same council as Kendall & was also still closed 10days ago.

Maybe give them a ring as they are suppose to be going to reopen both of them.
