Dumeresque Dam Free Camp, NSW

Post by GregnDee »

Sorry, haven't had good Internet for a while.

Left Inglewood last Sunday, after spending some time with some friends, free camping in their garden. Spent our first night in a free camp in DEEPWATER which I found in Wikicamps. Great spot right by the river, but not suitable for on readers unless the weather is dry.

Drove through Glen Innes, stopped to get a new battery for the caravan as we simply weren't getting a charge. That did the trick. Always something.

Next stop, 9 Kms north west of Armidale, we found a terrific free camp spot by the lake, and we've stayed here two nights so far and s it's raining today we decided to stay put one more night. Camped near a guy who has a tent and he has been travelling and living this way for 4 years. Looks a bit down and out, but when you get to know him he's a real nice guy, just down on his luck, and he prefers this lifestyle.

Also got to know a couple who have been camping here on and off for several months...he plays the ukulele nd she is studying psychology and has exams locally. Had a good long chat by the campfire and a bit of a singsong...as I also play the use!

Heading towards the coast and then up towards Grafton, where we have a 3 month housesit. 350 acres and a kelpie.

No probs with Internet there. Here I have just one bar on my Telstra stick, so no photos yet, Dot!

Cheers to all
Dee Nd of course the very lovely Greg!

Greg and Dee, the couple in the Merc camper (ukulele and studying psychology) were there when we spent a few days at Dumaresque Dam on our way south back in March. Certainly an interesting couple. It's a beaut spot, isn't it? Have you done the walk around the Dam? It's a bit of a scramble across below the dam wall but was do-able when we were there. Enjoy your travels.
Cheers

Hi there ....Swisslulu.....

The guy we are cooking for tonight is also interesting....and he's warned us off the other couple....said they are not what they seem.......the one with the ukulele just came over to us, and then all he wanted to do was show us how good he was....so I just put my uke away.... And she is definitely a bossy boots...but you meet all sorts and we take people as we find them.

But Greg will help anyone, and the solo guy needed help with his battery, we have the generator, Greg knew just where to bash his alternator to get it to work again!

We seem to have missed a few people on here on our travels.....

But it's so good to be on the road again!
