Forwarding Mail

Post by SteveW »

I need to make arrangements for forwarding of Australia Post mail that would ordinarily be delivered home. Has anybody had experiences, good or bad, with the various organizations that redirect mail whilst on the road?

Steve

If you have a trusted source that would consent to the task, have your mail either collected by them or redirect it to their address via OzPost redirection service - discounted for pension card holders.

The beauty of this is that they can phone or email details of items landed. Then you decide whether to have them sent on Poste restante or opened by your receiver. Providing internet capacity, opened correspondence can then be scanned and emailed if hard copy is necessary.

Personally I prefer ebilling eliminating the paperwork, but this is not suitable for everything.

What we do is we have arranged for mail forwarding to Gregs sister. She opens everything and tells us if there is anything urgent, she dumps the rubbish, and forwards stuff we say we want. Has worked well for two years, even for the year we were in Europe!

Hi Steve,

Can I suggest you join the Winnebago RV club, for around $50 a year you receive great deals on different promotions and products and they also offer a free mail forwarding service (he only cost to you is the postage used). Just the mail forwarding service will work out cheaper that some of the other mail forwarding companies charge.

We have been on the road for 2 years ,and we have had no problems with SOS Mail Solutions at Yatala Qld, We got all our mail forwarded to them Via Australia Post, till we let everyone know their address, and now they hold our mail for us untill we let them know where to send it to us, they can even scan your mail, and forward it to your computer, they email you as soon as they get your mail in,and let you know who it is from. It suits us to get our mail this way.

Interesting comments and suggestions. I have been reading through the various offerings - from basic "forwarding it all'' to selective scanning and electronic forwarding. I am pleased to note that some on the forum have more reliable offspring than we do!

I'll keep on with the research. Thanks for the comments.

Steve, have you got a good enough neighbour / friend that would collect your mail (chuck the junk mail) You leave so many express post bags (pre paid ones) and every so often you ring /contact your mail collector and ask them to sent your mail onto a given address eg c/o Post Office, Woop Woop. With the c/o PO the mail is kept for 1 month.. :D
