Re: Inverter
Then I would say 300w is plenty big enough.
I have a 180 that I use when I don't want to run anything big. Its enough to drive phone and tablet chargers, as well as run the telly and STB.
The 300 will give a little leeway

Re: Inverter
It all depends on your usage! Our TV, mobile phone chargers etc run off 12v, In our case the only thing that we need 240v for is charging the computers, we tried 12v chargers for them but they did not last long at all, appeared not to like being connected for the long periods of time required to recharge the battery, but then they were Chinese specxials. We have two Inverters a 2400w PSW that can run almost any thing we need, mainly used for the washing machine, and occasionally the microwave, and a 300w Tricky Dicky unit that is used for charging the laptops, though it is a little on the small side if both need charging at the same time.dapope wrote:Then I would say 300w is plenty big enough.

Re: Inverter
John,
Is your 300W unit the 'beer-can' type? What did Dicky charge for it?
I've often thought firing up the 1500Watter (when it was working - see my other thread on this saga) was overkill when all I wanted was to recharge a camera battery for which I can't buy a 12v charger. The inverter overhead would probably exceed the drain required for the camera battery!
(I'm organised with 12v chargers for 2x phones, 2x Kindles & a box of AA & AAA batteries I carry for "other odds & sods".)
OTR I'm usually on the 'pooter for >2hrs, so I wear the inverter overheads to guarantee the lights stay on.

The DS special I have is about 150mm long by about 75mm square, I Don't remember th price but think it was relatively cheap , I also carry a box of rechargeable AA & AAA batteries, the charger for these also runs off 12v

Re: Inverter
How about one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-Pu ... 1343wt_958 or one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pure-Sine-Wa ... 570wt_1137 at the price they would hard to beat, just don't plug any fluro tube lights into them, that will make the smoke come out of any inverter smaller than about 1500w, the ones that fit into light sockets seem to be ok though.
The second one listed from Oz Plaza is the baby brother of the 1000w unit that has run my 2 fridge freezers for the last 2 yrs and used for a few lithium demos last yr.

Re: Inverter
Interesting that the first one you mention T1 says "input can be either 12V or 24V" ??
I wonder is it auto sensing or switchable? Maybe you need to specify when buying?

Re: Inverter
The last 2 lines look like a specify when ordering thing, but interesting to know they will do 24v low output inverters, they are hard to find.
