Mr AHH Sshit strikes again

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Mr AHH Sshit strikes again

Post by RussellB[SA] »

The "Engine Check" Light comes on, the book says ignition/ combustion is a problem, drive on, but performance may be affected, get checked by authorised mechanic.

OK made it home,170km since light came on, noticed nothing in performance etc and book into FIAT workshop.

"Ahh that old problem", the fly by wire accelerator system, part of the automated manual transmission, is dicky, it may play up, needs replacing ($1427.50) no big trips until replaced best advice.

He'd done several and expects it to fail.

No charge for check and minor service.

AHHH SShit

While I was waiting for mechanic to check it out I wandered around Bunnings, looking at the AEG (Drill) batteries when a guy from AEG suppliers came up to me and spoke out bout the batteries, I told him I had a couple of 2 year old Lithiums that were dead hardly had any use, he says bring them in, all the generation 1 lithium batteries were being replaced free of charge, got back to them as soon as possible and got me some new ones ($70 each if I had to buy them).

Ok was some silver lining to the cloud today.

I think that those little chinamen are breeding like rabbits because we are all running over them like no body's business. :?

Russell is the accelerator problem in the bit attached to the pedal?
If so you might have some success in pulling it out and hosing it out inside with electrical contact cleaner, letting it dry and then refitting it. I've done just that to several vehicles now with great success, seems dust etc builds up inside and starts doing weird things especially in humid weather.
If it is one of the sealed units then it may not be possible.

It seems the fuel savings of the new bells and whistles direct fuel injection fly by wire diesel engines is soon swallowed by the repair costs. I'm still thinking that even though the LPG is expensive in the outback, the lack of high cost servicing and repairs would quickly balance out any savings in fuel costs. I guess I'll find out one day

I agree Terry. I shudder every time I think briefly about purchasing one of these new fangled computer controlled engine vehicles.
I must admit the fuel squeezing & electronic timing has advantages....... but for who??

Also the right mechanic that knows what the codes actually mean. I used to ring my prev husb and ask him what the code was, then one day he went and told the local twats how to read their fangled machine. Until then disconnect the computer .  Now if they were to invent the bullshit fuelled car we would all be ok.

Might not be a big problem now that they are relaxing the "one child per couple" policy.
