Free camping at Cape Jervis?
Planning a trip to Kangaroo Island that will involve a 9.00am departure on the ferry from Cape Jervis. Has anyone established whether we can turn up at Cape Jervis the previous evening and free camp nearby?

Nothing on the Wikiwhatever, Dot. Looks like plenty of open space nearby on the Google Earth spy machine - just a matter of whether the authorities have involvement.

There is a huge expanse of dirt area just to the west of the ferry terminal where they park the trucks and semi's heading over the KI and the two times we've been there there were motorhomes and campers setup along the coast, you could park along the water for several hundred metres, no signs and people obviously camped there. Have also seen motorhomes setup at the lookout at the top of the hill as you drop down towards the ferry terminal which had been there overnight.
