40 Mile Beach - Gnoorea Point WA near Karratha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9XGMAur ... 2-PdWKAOMQ

This spot had only a Boat launching area, Dump Point, Bins, Tables and a few covered areas, no shade to speak of just a few bushes and some better bush areas around the Mangroves end, but since we've been here April 2014 they've put in 2 new Dump Points, and are in the process of putting in Long Drop Toilets they tell us they'll be done by May, Peak season. When the Caretaker arrives and it is $7 per Van per night and it gets cheaper the longer you stay. up to 3 months max. Fishing is great, Swimming etc with some beautiful views over the Indian Ocean.
14 km well maintained dirt road in off the main road to and from Karratha which is about 50 kms away and has Woolworths Coles KMart Country Target Camping Store plenty of service Stations, Vet (The vet that looked after the famous RED DOG) and much more and getting bigger all the time with the Mining and Gas hubs close by.

Looks great, Wendy. I am amazed that you have phone signal. Is the nearest water point in Karratha?
Cheers

Ohhh sorry, yep Karratha, we get our water from the Roadhouse on the entry to Karratha, we asked first and were given permission. We got it out the back in the truck filling area the tap is higher!!
But otherwise you can get it from the Karratha Visitors Centre for a fee!!

Also we found out last week there are no self serve Laundromats in Karratha They seem to have pretty much everything else as they are supposed to be the biggest shopping centre in the Pilbara........ so be prepared to hand wash, we use our shower water after a couple of days with wool wash as they tell me it wont need rinsing??!! So far so good.
We have been here a day shy of a week and now have 6 RV's here and we've been asked by 3 different people if we need anything in town, water included.....................ahhhhhh these RVing folk certainly a very special breed hay?? :D
Oh! as for phone signal, its very good as well as internet with an arial, TV is off & on, we use our satellite
Cheers

Thanks Wendy. I don't think we would need a top up. We have 240l shower water and 80 l drinking water. So if we were careful we would do 3-4 weeks.
We also have satellite and a 3G aerial on the van. So if we could get there in time, we could do a month, I think. But am not sure we could get organised in time. Will see how we go!
Cheers

Please define 'careful' We have never been game not to top up every chance we get.....we have 350lt fresh water tank.....makes me feel pretty stupid for being so paranoid!!!!

I'd love to hear how you are "careful" with your water use............perhaps we can discuss it in a separate Topic, if so let me know which??

Cheers Wendy
