fast boats

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

fast boats

Post by BruceS »

Been watching an event today that has speedboats doing around 140km/hr pulling skiers.
Part of Australian champoinships I believe?
Racing, overtaking etc etc.
Came to a grinding halt with one death & one injured badly.
Not sure if it'll continue tomorrow or not.

That's sad Bruce, dangerous sport at times. Skied for many years and did a few races, loved it but there were some close calls from time to time.

That speed on water would be worse than falling off a motorbike on the road at the same speed, no leathers to protect you and at some stage you will either hit a bank/tree/wave or the water will open up enough to grab an arm or leg in it's vice like grip. After coming off a ski tube at 80km/h plus as a youngster I'll never forget just how hard the water is at that speed, you bounce before you finally slow enough to break the surface, then the real impact hits.

I agree Terry.
Word around today is that the boat may have hit a submerged tree/log, ripped it's steering out & the boat speared into the willow trees.
At some stage the whole lot burst into flames.
The event was supposed to be Sat & Sun but it's very quiet here today......... event cancelled altogether.
Terrible thing losing a life or even an injury.

Heard he had a heart attack. At least he was doing something he loved at the time. :(
