If your computer can't handle the 64bit processing capability required for Win7 or higher... if you own a fruit machine and have finally come to your senses ;)

Those that be jealous of those with a Fruit Machine simply refuse to see the light and shall be called Luddites.

So endeth the lesson.

I have a very low opinion of forced marketing, which is why I will NEVER own an apple.
Dot, if your current pc runs ok, has enough storage, and enough oomph to do all you want, then its pointless to upgrade
If its constantly crashing etc, it may well be that some of the hardware is failing. Typically after about 5 years, depending on the component quality. Gothe best you can afford. I expect another 4 years out of my current laptop, which is about a year old now. I may not replace it, depending on what tablets are like then

Maybe I need some one that knows these machines needs to look to see if things are ok with settings etc, this is so foreign language to me. Now where does Jenny aka Aussiegirl live and does she want some scones???? I reckon this machine is around the 4yr mark..

Last time I was there, Dot had a piece of card paper with five holes numbered one through four. She stuck her fingers in the holes and turned it over with fingers up. I asked, "why doesn't the thumb have a number, what's it for?". Silly boy, she sez, it's the memory button.

Dot, don't fret too much about the hard drive capacity. I reckon it's what gets most people into trouble because it is relied upon with deadly results. Put everything that you simply cannot bear to lose on an external drive or storage medium. Preferably have two of these to beat Murphy at his game.
