Interesting post from the CMCA Rally FB page.
Was anybody there for the seminar and could fill us in with the detail?
Fatigue management and the definition of 'camping' in roadside rest areas came under the spotlight at a police discussion workshop in the Men’s Shed on the Wednesday (08/10/14) morning. Responding to questions from the audience, workshop presenter, Senior Constable Alison Stewart, said it was unlikely that police would order someone to move on from a roadside rest area if they were tired after several hours on the road. SC Stewart went on to say the dilemma currently being faced by many local government councils in popular areas is that they constantly have freedom campers coming into town and sleeping in supermarket car parks – but not 'camping'. Other issues that came up for discussion included the legalities versus common sense of long rigs taking up two parking spaces. [Workshop presenter, Senior Constable Alison Stewart, is pictured with rally veterans Annette and Errol Walker of Stanthorpe, Qld, who have attended a total of 25 rallies]. - Thanks to CMCA member and rally newsletter editor, Sandra Brown, for the info and images.
