.
Well we've bit the bullet and decided to spend some more of the kids inheritance, we are booked on the day sailing from Melbourne to Devenport next Sunday morning and are looking for suggestions re camps and siteseeing. Because of the high shipping costs involved and to make the trip worthwhile we are going to stay down south until early April and then return in time for the Murray Bridge Rally.
As many of you know we have an 11 metre coach and A frame a Terios and with that in mind we are wondering what others may suggest. Our good friends Trish and Gary Johnston are travelling with us in their Denning so we are looking for sites that will accomodate two big rigs. We have decided to spend Christmas/New Year at the Hobart Showgrounds and then.....?
The only time commitment we have is to attend the Tasmanian Combined Chapters Rally in Devenport in mid February, so it looks like we may do an anti-clockwise lap of the island, up the east coast, across the north, down the west and back to Hobart then up the middle to Devenport and back to Australia. What are your thoughts and suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Lorraine and Steve...

Steve and Lorraine I would suggest you get in touch with a few of the chapters down there as to where you can park your rigs.
I have been 4 times but not as long as you, as in length that is.
Have a mate who was as long but no more one the road I will see if he can give me some 'spots' you can use.
That is if I can get in touch with him?.
Bernie.

My first suggestion would be not to say that when you are in Tassie, they get a little sensitive about that.......it's know as the mainland or nth island. Despite Canberra's wish to cut it off and set it adrift, Tassie is still part of Australiaup the middle to Devenport and back to Australia. What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Re: We're being transported to Tasmania.
Sheffield has a great free camp area which will easily take big rigs, dump point and a single water tap onsite, be there for the steamfest in early March, great weekend, Swimcart Beach on the Bay of Fires has sites alongside of the beach will take a couple of big rigs as well, we spent four months in Tassie this time last year and only paid for 7 nights at a council Parking area at Bothwell, $7.00 per night power, water, showers, toilets free washing machines, the rest of the time we free camped, not moved on or hassled at all, a great place, enjoy

There ya go Steve Chris is more up to date then my mate.
Bay of fires is good...if you can get in its popular. We stayed at Binalong Bay also at the bay of fires, you will fit in there as well.
Diana's Basin 10 or less Ks south of St Helens is good we have stayed there.( good fishing)
We also stayed at Campbell Town but think that's closed..could be wrong?
Bernie.

Re: We're being transported to Tasmania.
Thank you Bernie and Chris for the information it will all come in very handy, to say we are really looking forward to this trip would be an understatement, after a year of medical madness we can't wait to be back on the road again. If you have any other suggestions they will be greatly appreciated.

) it's just that I find new and somewhat longer and more challenging ways of getting to where I think I want to go.

And that is just the tip of the story iceberg. A night around the camp fire would well be worth paying to attend, now I also know another person with a few good stories that are also just for the campfire scene so hmmmm maybe after the MB cmca gathering these couple of people just might end up in our yard for a night of true stories
