With my van booked in again at 1 Jayco drive, this time for the shower to be replaced ( 2 week job ) I find that the door no longer seals properly letting in a nice draft unfortunately I am no longer in warranty, here's a little diddy from the ACCC's recall page

Re: How can anyone say Jayco is good
I, and no doubt many others, will say that Jayco is good. We have owned a Jayco caravan for many years and have owned a Jayco motorhome for over two years. Certainly Jayco have many recalls but so too do others. Caravans and motorhomes are complex and by design, for reasons of maintaining weights within the capability of tow vehicles, somewhat flimsy - compared to a railway carriage. We have had some warranty issues and some recall issues - all have been dealt with to our satisfaction. As for a door not sealing, caravan and motorhome doors would, in my opinion, be the strongest body part of the van. Of course they are third party supplied items. If a door seal dislodged out of warranty then I would fix it. If the seal is caused by wind damage or abuse (not suggesting at all that this is the case in your situation) I would fix it.
I, for one, disagree with the statement "How can anyone say Jayco is good". In fact I find it offensive. Many Jayco owners I know are happy with their purchase just as I am.

Well SteveW I find your attitude offensive, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect your right of response however, to say it is offensive to disagree with your personal opinion is the height self righteous intolerance

There are lemons in every thing that is mass made but if I had one of them (in any purchase) I would expect it to be fixed with no arguments. I think these days if you buy something there will surely be some problem with it that needs fixing.

Re: How can anyone say Jayco is good
You've missed my point, Peter. I'm not denying you your personal opinion but rather objecting to others "anyone" being unwillingly joined into your opinion. You chose to ask "how can anyone say Jayco is good". Well, I say that Jayco is good and so do many others. Maybe not the best, but certainly good and good value for money. What I find offensive is, not you nor that you have aired your problems, but that the statement itself presumes to speak on my behalf and on behalf of Jayco owners at large - anyone may, and many do, say that Jayco is good.

Re: How can anyone say Jayco is good
Sorry to read about your problems Peter.
We love our Jayco, but we have the realities that it is a van that is made for a price. It is not the best van that you will ever buy, BUT it comes with great back up service (in most cases) some dealers are not as good as others. But we have had amazing service from Jayco dealers all around the East Coast and into Victoria and SA.. It hasn't mattered where we have needed help, there has been a local jayco dealership who has been willing to help us fix the problem and not charged like wounded bulls for the privilege. If we had bought a more exclusive brand of van, the service repair departments would only be where the van was made with maybe a few dealers around the country.
We treat her gently, with respect and in return we get as good a holiday as other expensive van owners. I suspect you have experienced very poor customer service and this is just not acceptable. Hope you get the satisfaction that you deserve, but do remember there are some very good dealerships who will be more helpful than others. If not happy with what you get, go elsewhere.

Re: How can anyone say Jayco is good
In answer to the topic question, I can. Our 2002 25 footer with slide-out has the odd leak, wears out one particular tyre more often than others and slows the troopy down something chronic, but we love it. Perhaps later models suffer from the financial times, I wouldn't know. And perhaps the prior owner of our van had issues; I wouldn't know about that either. Perhaps Dot has it right about lemons, and I do feel for you if you scored one.

WE Have a 2004 Jayco and it is a beut.
Poptop shower combo but has done us proud. So we say yes it is good.
We have just spent 12 months touring in it and cannot fault it.
