Inverters

Post by Mrcoolabah1au »

Does it matter what is the difference modified sign wave or pure sign wave :?: :?: :?:

Yesterday had a smokey problem yesterday with the 24volt stop working a couple of weeks ago so took the top off and found all the fuses blown
wonder why on the board next to the fuse holder all 6 of them said 20 amp so what did I pul out 10 amp fuse
Fixed that I thought put 6 x20 amp back hook it all up again and the genie came out of the bottle
Had the inverter hook up as per T1 instruction to the gigavac and that hook up to the altanator it work the first time
suppose it stop because because of fuse but still does not explain the smoke :?: :?: :?:

It matters to some of the things plugged into the inverter, some will be OK with Modified, some will need Pure Sine Wave.
As a rough rule, if its got smartypants electronics (like a telly) it will probably need PSW inverter.

Not sure about gigavacs and alternators, T1 is da man, maybe a PM?

Send the inverter seller an email explaining that the smoke has escaped and you need a replacement. Sounds like something is wrong in the inverter itself.
Don't buy modified sine wave inverters to run electronic stuff, the smoke will come out of the stuff you plug in and no one will honour a warranty if the failure was due to a modified sine wave power supply.
Was anything plugged into the inverter when the smoke came out? What model inverter was it?
