1500w - 3000w Inverter

Post by Dot »

Can you add one inverter to another one instead of chucking the first one out . i.e. Have a 1500w one want 3000w one can you add another 1500w to existing one ?? :?

Not really Dot.
There are some that can be paralleled but most of them are pretty big ones.
What do you want to run that the 1500 one won't run? Microwave? Heater? Electric Frypan?
Most 1500 ones will run for a short time at 3000w.
Running a 3000 one on your batteries might be a problem. I'd suggest getting a lend of one for a test first.
You could leave the existing one to power half your power points and another unit to power the other half. Would that help?

I have used a Xantrex 1512 for 7 years now. Very good Inverter/charger (1500w/70A)
They can be piggy backed.
However as Bruce says they can run at twice their rated capacity for a short time, so it has been sufficient.

I think the Jay Car Invertek by Rich Electric would be the cheapest linkable inverter on the market at the moment @ $900 for a 1500w 12v unit, so if it was cheaper than that I'd say it is not linkable. the issue is getting the wave pattern aligned, without a master and slave arrangement each unit would be trying to produce it's own wave timing to produce the sinewave 240vac rms @ 50hz, 2 of these do not equal anything usable except smoke generating devices..... Wayne can tell you all about smoke generation
