Murtoa

Post by Jon and Kay »

We are in Murtoa Today for their BIG Weekend. Market Day in the morning, then off to the races in the afternoon.
Tourist stuff the next day with the Water Tower and Stick House open.
It doesn't seem the same as last time I was here. The lake is full of water and our old mate Al is gone. :(

Mel and Al moved back to the Family in Melbourne before Al died. He told Mel his Lukemia drugs were for Arthritis. He was a great man in a very small frame, was Al

Anybody who hasn't seen the Murtoa Stick House...you're missing something very unique. (in the world)

Looking it up on the Web provides a good description, but a concert, enjoying the acoustics over 2 acres of concrete floored, roofed area is something else.

Murtoa Big Weekend has been a great experience.

Camped beside the Caravan Park, having paid our fee, the Lake is superb and used for skiing most days (every day we have been here)

I commend you put it in your calendar next year

p.s. Don't do what we did... lost big at the horse races ($8) :(

$8? You better ask Wayne for a lend because he's got a lot!!
Sounds like a lot of fun to be had for sure!
So you off to Berri next?
Martin's Bend I think it's called? Also believe it's not free any more.

We're doing an about turn, off to Bendigo, have a meeting there this week. And the Elmore filed days are on. I have three sheep on the property, so keeping up with the grain futures for the three acres and agricultural improvements is very important, Kay might let me get one of those new remote controlled tractors! Yes please.

This Town has a huge amount of History, the Water Tower is stuffed full of four floors of exhibits, and so many other buildings are full of History.

p.s. The V8s (Bathurst) is on this weekend... please do not disturb.

I thought they were over (for the time being) Dot.

With the recent event in Sydney, I doubt anybody would want to upset the police in the near future.

This Country must have both a Front door and a Back Door, and I hope that some boundaries can soon become established for the benefit of those that want to knock on the front door, and those of us that want to boot somebody out the back door.

It does have a front and a back door Jon but the PC brigade run the country not the average Jo Blob. Better not get too into it as OT and a no no writing myself another letter.:)
