Re: Road Conditions.
Probably less hilly through Crookwell, Binda etc.
Oberon looks like it's closer to a national park & that usually indicates mountainous.

G'Day Bruce,
Yea that what I am trying to avoid. Could go up via Katoomba but that's a bloody nightmare.

About 5 minutes longer via Crookwell, Binda, Trunkey Creek. The route from Goulburn through Taralga and Oberon ranges from approx. 750 metres to 1200 metres.

Go for it Dirk, if I can do that bloody Toowoomba route you will have no trouble, (shows if you can really drive) .

Thanks George.
Trying to enjoy this trip with country I haven't seen before so no rush as we should have been on the road for a bit and doesn't matter which way we approach Bathurst.

Re: Road Conditions.
Have done this road many times, is a very nice run, all sealed - road through Trunky is not.
There is a short steep and narrow descent to the Abercrombie River, would be awkward if a truck came towards you. I always call on CB to ask if any heavy vehicles on descent to the river. Little traffic and few trucks, but did get a reply once and waited near the river crossing for him to pass.
Good campgrounds at Taralga and Black Springs, Caravan parks at Oberon and Bathurst.
Great scenery, recommended.

Re: Road Conditions.
Thanks Geoff, sounds like a nice interesting run. Camped down on the river when the kids were little at Bumaroo Bridge in the middle of winter. Freezing cold but the kids loved it.
