TV Antenna & jockey pulley aircon.

Post by Macca »

In the past 3 weeks we have saved ourselves over $700 on 2 small things.
the 8 year od tv winegard decided it had had enough of being bounced around. A quote from Springers at Lawnton was over $600! It was going to be a Jack antenna. We paid a $90 deposit as it had to be ordered.
After I had seen cheaper ones online Bruce rang Solar Express at Caboolture. Called in there this morning, bought another Winegard for $214 ($275 retail) & we now have 60 channels- first time TV for 2 weeks. Shall get our Springers money next week as it will not be a problem because when Bruce said that he could get one cheaper there was not a problem
Now needed to replace an original (450,000k) jockey pulley for the aircon as it was "screaming". As we were at Lawnton he went to Nissan at Petrie for a quote.
Diagnostics $140
hourly $190
Part cost $213
Repco had pulleys on sale for $26. Bought one plus a small other part - $50. They also lent Bruce a spanner to replace as we were right next door at Lawnton show grounds.
It certainly pays to shop around! What ripoffs.

But people will still pay the big $$ thinking the higher price must mean better quality.... yagottawunda eh, no wonder they had to order it in
