"tanks" tank- the Iveco drama

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

"tanks" tank- the Iveco drama

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here-- hello everybody some good news at long last.
The TANK is back in my possession after a 6 month drama over the Iveco engine and the injector faults.
The Iveco has now a new engine, new injectors, new turbo unit, at Skippers Trucks cost, and in the 300 km that I have driven the beast all appears to be running well----time will tell as I build up some test kms and I regain some confidence that the motor will last a trip from Perth to Wylie without another major breakdown. Once I regain some trust in the engine I will be heading to the East and I want to be at the gathering around Easter [or whenever] and spend some time on the road again.
It is now a matter of obtaining a written warranty from Iveco to cover the new engine to be expressed in how many thousand kms and at lease one year cover; rather than the 90 days which I am told is standard warranty on parts.
The second and important part of the matter is that United Fuel Injection insurance carriers still do not accept liability for any damage, and have denied my claim for the $18,000 cost involved with the first engine damage to be repaired/rebuilt.
As this is a considerable out-of-pocket amount I am off to the solicitor to commence action to recover the many dollars I have paid.
I hope that this is not a lengthy process, and that the situation can be corrected as soon as the matter is before the Court.
Keith.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Well I would say it is a good start, to have a new complete donk, but $18K, ouch, I do hope you have success in the court in a reasonable time frame

Great to hear Keith, a clear warning to all to forget about reconditioning the electronic injectors, buy new and they are covered by the new part warranty and consumer protection that a new part carries. The old style mechanical injectors, you can reco them till there is no body left to rebuild it into, but not the electronic ones it appears.

Nice to read that you've had a good result with the Iveco motor etc, now just hope injector side of it gives you similar good fortune - in a shorter time frame.

Let's hope you get prompt satisfaction once they are served. Best to take a negotiated settlement & move on sometimes rather than fight for years!

Delighted you are at long last ''back on the road again' . ( I did have a music sign around that but the forum woukd not accept it).
Best wishes on your legal fight, as I said before 'don't let the b***s grind you down'.
Hope we meet up some time soon.
Kind regards
Colin
