Replying to a PM.

Post by Chuck »

I received notification of a PM - as we do here - but this was from the CF, clicked on the link to the PM read it then clicked on reply.

Spent about an hour with the long winded reply then clicked send... and a message popped up saying I needed to log on to send a reply.

Did so but my reply had gone walkabout. Not happy Jan!

Very cranky so put the poooter away & tried again the next day - yesterday - with exactly the same result.

Now you'd think that after two attempts even this old farts brain would have clicked into gear & realised that I probably should have been logged into that forum before replying.

Yeah... agree!!!

So, now the question is... where did my replies go & is it possible to re-activate them... rather than me replying for the third time?

If so, how?

Chuck it depends on what settings they have on that forum.
Go to PRIVATE MESSAGES up the top rt corner & click on it.
On the page that opens look at the list of FOLDERS on the left side & look for DRAFTS.
If they have "auto save after x seconds" it might just have saved it.
You could have maybe clicked your back page arrow when you got the message to sign in & then copy/pasted the written message into Word or whatever Mac call it.
Another option is to open another window that also has the forum in it & sign in to that one & then copy paste it across from window to window.
Did you know you can have many pages of this forum open at the same time? Try it!

I've had posts and PM replies vanish, but a click on the back button and there it is, I then do the highlight and copy before I try to do anything more and thank my lucky stars for clever technology

It's also a good idea to copy & save as you go along.

If I am preparing a long winded reply (sorry Chuck -Dot made me do it) I prepare it as a Word document and save it until I have sent it.

Thanks Bruce, tried all that but no luck.
I'm thinking you must be logged on at the time of replying & that's what I normally do... dunno why I didn't do it this time.
Yeah, familiar with the multi page thingy.
