You could save all the little bits and sticky tape them to the wire just like conserving small bits of soap! :lol:

I'm sure it would guarantee stuffing something up, after all the HWS units are cheap.

Yep, that thought briefly passed through my head, then I thought why not lash out and just use the spare anode I have had sitting on a shelf for ages. Which reminds me, I must by a spare :) I had to buy a 27mm socket to get it out as the biggest I had was 25mm

You're a wasteful lot, there's still a perfectly good bit of wire rod left in the middle. If you leave it in till that has disappeared you can save buying another annode and buying a socket to fit it, the new hot water service comes with a brand new one already fitted... haven't you blokes heard about not fixing it till it's broke :roll:

If you keep the nut you can buy a lenth of ( anode) and make your own. Thats what I did, just dont grind it off with a bench grinder then sharpen a drill after. smile...
