SWMBO taught some kids with strange names...
Most were of foreign origin, translating their names from their native language into English: "Rising Star" is one Asian girl who springs to mind... the kids called her 'Star'.
However, I'm sure some parents had a twisted sense of humour...
"Stan Mullet" was called "Stun" by the other kids.
One girl's surname was Cotten. Her given names were Polly Esther.
Despite this (perhaps because of it) she was very well adjusted, and had a great sense of humour.
Then there was the girl whose name was pronounced "Ke-ROS-inay". Her parents had seen the name on a country store window.
It was spelled 'Kerosene'...
The kids called her 'Ros'.

I knew of a daughter of the Clearwater family, whose first name was Chrystal.

Knew a girl once from the Shine Family.

Her name was Raya , nicknamed 'Sunny"

She used to say "With a name like mine how could I be gloomy"

The old joke about the young girl fronting up for her first day at school. Each person had a go at pronouncing her name, L-A, La, Lay, Ell Aye .... The mother had finally had enough, what is wrong with you fools, her name is Ladasha, the dash no be silent ......

Then there was "Malena Stool" of course the new students were sent to reception to bring her to the ward

On my first day working in a hardware store , the senior salesman sent me to the warehouse to ask the storeman for a long weight.
Took ages.....

My mechanics apprenticeship in Byron many,many moons ago.
There was a sand mining company workshop across the road, sometimes we borrowed large tools from them.
After a couple of weeks I was sent across the road to borrow a 12" breeding tool.
The guy sort of giggled, turned around and fiddled, then turned back and flopped his dick on the counter.
"Sorry 6" is the biggest I've got"
Well the feeling that I had been done like a dinner was like a cold shower, the the hot flush of "you ejit!"

2 days later they sent me for a long weight, so I went home, boss was mightily pissed abd that was the end of the shenanigans.

My excuse...... I was only 16

Speaking of which...
Do you remember -- I think it was late 70s or early 80s -- the Left-Handed Mars Bar?
On a date very early in April a 1/4page ad appeared in the (then broadsheet) Melbourne Age telling people that Mars had finally succumbed to public pressure and introduced a L-H M B, and explained the chocolate coating had been applied in the opposite direction so the flavour was not affected by the direction of consumption.
You could identify the left-handed ones because, where the RH ones had MARS(R) on them (actually the 'registered trademark' symbol) the left-handed version had MARS(L) on the label.
Had a chat with the kiosk owner in the building where I worked... he said hundreds of people had asked for one!
