Virgin Camper and HWS

Post by RussellB[SA] »

What to people do?

Virgin camping soon, do I leave Truma HWS on gas all the time or turn it off and on before use.

Will it use more gas to come up to temperature than allowing it to automatically maintain temperature.

Forgot Physics rules re this (I failed Physics).

What do you do? :!:

Just wasting gas if you leave it on Russell.
I turn mine on and on average it takes 30 min to auto turn off then I turn it off I do this when I get up in the morning and again in the arvo.
It keeps hot enough thru the day.

We used to turn ours on when needed, only took 10 mins or so to heat up.. Remember to economise what you use. Wash up in a small bowl, don't fill the sink. Try to wash up no more than twice a day,,Boil the kettle for the washing up water. NO long showers. (shower together) Lets know how you get on Russell. Hi Ann :D

We only use our hot water system once a day. In warm weather we have found heating the water at night to do the dishes leaves the water hot enough for our morning showers and brekky dishes. In cold weather we generally heat the water in the morning for showers and dishes. If the water is a bit cool for the evening dishes, heat some in the kettle as Dot says.
Cheers

We leave ours on. It runs maybe twice a day, then about 5 or 6 in the morning. Means i can get up, put kettle on, have shower, and make the first cup:-) I dont think it uses any more gas, as its not heating from cold.

We only turn ours on when required. It will cycle on and off wasting gas otherwise. Some outback places charge more than $70 for a 9kg refill. So don't waste it.
