Santa's List

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Google is much better at guessing the spelling and offering possible solutions, better to give them a smart phone and the smarts on how to use it to check spelling as well as meaning ...... one part is easy, the other requires both education and a willing student.

:? Let me think....

- Sex education
- Same-sex equality
- Family structure equality
- Respect for elders
- Table manners
- Money management/budgeting
- Aboriginal language/culture
- Environmental studies
- Family violence avoidance
- Diet/obesity
- Middle-Eastern culture (but not Christian Education in Victoria!)
- Drug & alcohol abuse
- Driver education
- Sport (mandatory in Vic)

Oh, and I think they squeeze in some English, maths and science... but that's apparently optional. And spelling & grammar are to be strictly avoided.

I seem to remember these subjects were taught after hrs and on the week end and generally sort of mixed together. The table manners and respect for elders was taught at home, driver education was also on the week ends when the highlighted two topics weren't being studied
Money management .... hmmm.... that sort of was learnt on the run after leaving home, although I had been working before/after school since I was 13yrs old so I was fairly financial independent anyway, but rent was a bit of a shock

My spell checker didn't recognise dictionaries, however, it did find dictionary's.

I still think "How to use a search engine to make you smarter" would be a great gift for all. Over on another forum or three, "how to accept you don't know everything" should be mandatory reading before you can make the first post
