You could grow some next to the tomatoes ($1.75ea) and drumhead cabbage ($5.90ea).
Happy it is Winter and Salads are off the menu.

In Albury this week, the DISCOUNT greengrocer had Iceberg lettuce for $10 each! (Well, $9.99 anyway.)
Didn’t dare go to Colesworths to check their prices!

Keith, I wish I could grow tomatoes here, but the fruit fly get to them every time.
Peter, our prices are currently much the same as yours. Petrol is $1.84 though, but on the rise again. Was $2.24 in Melbourne on Monday.
Ray, we went to Coles the other day. Lots of empty spots on shelves, but meat and veg getting far too expensive.
Cheers

Grow your tomatoes in a midge net green house and add a pedestal fan when the plants start to flower. Tomatoes cross pollinate via the wind, not bees etc, but you can do the powder blush brush method like the https://www.sundropfarms.com/our-facilities/ do because all their plants are in a sealed green house.
