12v fridge worries.

Post by BernieQ2 »

After putting. a dedicated cable to the fridge o still have the same problem... this morning after being on since noon yesterday the fridge compartment was sitting on 7.3 degrees...I did see 5.2 yesterday.
The freezer compartment is sitting on minus 23.7 I have a drop of 0.25 of a volt on the new cable.
Can anyone tell me how the freezer can work properly but the fridge compartment not.???
Bernie.

Need a photo of the heat exchanger parts used to cool the fridge ... and does the door seal still work properly ... close thew fridge door and try to reopen it a few moments later, if it's not a battle to open it, the door seal or somewhere else in the fridge compartment is leaking in warm air

What about the heat exchanger inside the fridge? Is it an evaporator plate or a process of redirection the cold air from the freezer into the fridge compartment?

Bernie, just for a bit of a comparison, shift your thermometer in the fridge and from say, top to bottom of cabinet and test again. On our crappy 3 way in the Winny we often get different temps in different spots. That's why some people put fans in the fridge, to circulate the cool air.
Obviously the compressor cycles and doesn't run all the time.

Try turning it down a bit Bernie?
I had one in the Bedford that was like that.
It concentrated on the freezer & what ever was left over went to the fridge.
If you tried to drop the freezer too much there wasn't enough to get the fridge down enough.
Have to remember there is a DEEP freezer and a freezing compartment. There is a difference.
Depends where you position the probe but 7 isn't TOO bad? Much lower & you'll stuff up lettuce & cucumbers.
I do feel for your frustration though.
I love the unit I have here as I can control individually fridge & freezer but it's not an RV unit ofcourse!

Thanks everyone. There wasn't any thing in the fridge till after noon...temp as at 3 degrees.
Checked a hour later still at 3 degrees...I put 4 cans in the fridge...check an hour 10 degrees...check another hour later sitting on 10.2 degrees. I haven't gone to the motorhome yet this morning because of the rain. When and if it stops I will check the fridge.
Motorhome not in the shed...it's in front of the shed next to our home. So in full rain.
Bernie.
Break in the rain...temp in fridge 5.5...after about five or so minutes it was at 5.3,
Good enough for food but not the beer :D
I didn't open the fridge.

Still needs a method of getting the heat out of the fridge cabinet, so it must have an evaporator plate somewhere. Is it auto defrost?

Put the sensor for the inside temp in the bottom of the fridge, check the temp in around 30 mins, then move the sensor to the top of the fridge and repeat, what are the two readings?
