Flooded & broken hearted!!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Even if they're insured the income loss for down time would break some small operators. :(

I only had one prime mover and a couple of trailers and it was hard when a breakdown came.

Being fresh water mostly, if the mechanicals were stripped down quickly enough you'd be surprised what could be salvaged.
Knowing insurance companies they'll just sit for 10 months & then be sold for scrap value at auction.

At least with water they can salvage some parts, unfortunately not with fire.

5 out of a fleet of 7 plus 4 trailers were destroyed due to a faulty battery in the 4th from the right, (the one with no bullbar)

worst thing about the floods though is the mud that goes into everything. and sticks up a storm after when the sun comes out.

At age 22, and pig ignorant, I drowned my VW when storms caught up with us when we were living in Townsville. We were driving back from Cairns and through a swollen river when the car in front stalled. The water rushed into the back of my VW and stalled the motor. Luckily there was a deserted timber mill nearby and a Service Station.
We set up camp on the timber mill shelves, drying nappies as required, whilst I bought flushing oil to put through the engine. I started by taking out the spark plugs after putting clean oil in and repeated that process until I was satisfied it would be OK.

The VW lasted until we traded it in some years later.

I now wonder at my adventure and how well ignorance served me back then.
I am a man of many talents, being direct is one which seems to raise the most interest...
