The Proud Boys Christmas

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I know you know but .....

Only ever been one person been banned from this forum and that was because of direct personal abuse of a moderator after several warnings.

Are you requesting to be banned? hehe .... Sorry, nope!
Some do ban themselves tho it seems?

I did enjoy the 'scene' tho & straight away thought to myself "no wars, no arguments & very peaceful". Definately not like that in the Middle East at present?

And here was me taking the history and science approach and believing it was a celebration in the Nth hemisphere to mark the first day that was measurably longer for the technology they had at the time. The gift giving was smaller settlements meeting to exchange food and other essentials that each had an excess to requirement before the growing season returned, thus ensuring all survived until the next cold season .... how could I have got it so wrong :?

That day is a few days earlier Terry. Dec 21st is shortest day/longest day depending on which hemisphere you are in.
Boxing Day Dec 26th is a whole other history lesson. :D
Cheers

The fact they left no written account of anything, everything known about the Druids is at best, second hand. "Anything not easily understood would appear magic" is a well-accepted thing and the less people knew or understood, the easier the magic. It doesn't take much to use this sort of thing to create a religious over tone, so the Druids became the wise leaders of that period.
Many theories about there being no written accounts left by the Druids themselves, I can't imagine they didn't have the knowledge to create a written language, so if they did write it down, where did it go?
Christianity has quite a track record of wiping out any knowledge outside of their control, the Romans had a similar track record, the powers came to a rise about the same period the Druids faded out ..... as for the human sacrifice, we only have second hand knowledge of them being a religious ritual, maybe it was a punishment for wrong doing, witch burning was a method of removing anyone smarter than the powers that be, but I doubt they were that primitive, I'd think they would have been taken in by the Druids trained to expand the knowledge of the group.
