Leichardt Lagoon

Post by Peter »

This is Leichardt Lagoon, also known at Old Glenore Station a short distance out of Normanton on the road to Croyden. There is a fee to use and has hot showers and toilets. It is in Camps 7 as site 235. Great for birdwatching and plenty of space and very relaxing.. A bit of history my wife's fathers family had the property at the turn of the 1900's when it was a large station and he was born on the property in the early 1900 's . There are some family graves on the property on the hilkl over the otherside of the lagoon. I did see some crocks over in the Norman River which is not too far away . Also can recommend the butcher in Normanton great meat, locally killed we went back into town the day we were leaving and stocked up again .

Also recommend the butcher in Croydon, we were told that the meat came from Normanton, very good.
