Coaster 2h motor

Post by PandJ R away »

I have been using a HB30 Coaster for parts for my HZB30 Coaster build. The job is nearly done and I am getting ready to sell the shell which includes the 2H motor, gearbox, fuel and water pumps, radiator, alternator etc. Basically everything in the engine bay untouched from when I acquired it. It has a 12v system

I intend to remove the diff and fuel tank, tail lights, fuel fll doors and a few other smaller items over the next month or so.

I drove the bus the 150km to my place about 2 years ago and it ran perfectly. It hasn't moved since. There is no floor, seats etc,the tyres are not roadworthy (may only be 5 wheels), there is rust in most body panels and so it would need to be removed on a truck.

If anyone is interested in purchasing the bus which is really just the motor, gearbox combination etc. please email me john@ta.net.au

I intend to sell it through ebay but if there is an interested forum member who needs a replacement 2H motor we can talk.

Hi John.
Before you put it on ebay contact your local metal recyclers, scrap steel is sometimes worth a fair bit, When I drove tow trucks we used to pick up old car bodys and get good money for them, at one stage it was around $260 a tonne.
So it could be worth $3/400.00 Plus the sale of the motor to you.

Good thought Al

I am a bit flexible at his time as to how things work out. I am really just flagging an opportunity as I understand that these motors are getting hard to find and this some seems to be in good nick mechanically. If it is useful to a forum member then I am happy to work out an arrangement that is good for both of us.

My friend who is going to help with the diff is away for 4 weeks and so not much will happen until that job is done. I need to have the whole thing finalised and the body gone by late May as we are off travelling again and I don't want to leave it outside the house.

If someone wants to remove the engine /gearbox etc. here I am happy to dispose of the body. I have already had enquiries from a local tow operator that are similar to what you suggested. Similarly it maybe a lot easier and beneficial to the purchaser to have the whole lot. These are some of the things that can be discussed.
