Finally finished cleaning out the bus did the last this morning, now to really sort out what is really necessary to put back in. Then I guess we need to scrub the outside.

Finally got to wash the bus but will need to get some more tar remover as some spots are being difficult. A few bubbles of rust also noticed hmm what do we do?

Dot,

The best tar remover is kerosene. it also removes oxidation.

You will find that WD40 is also very good at removing tar. I have used it for years on my show bikes.

Have got some on hand Craig, shall try that before I go and get Kero. How did you get on with the painters?

Yes you boys were right about both the WD40 and the Kero for getting the tar crap off the bus. I first tried the WD40 and was pleased with the result but as G said it could get a tad expensive so he gave me some Kero also pleased with the result so continued on until my hands / arms conked out. To be continued tomorrow :)

Dot,

If you spray the kero on and leave it for a while the tar will start to run off, then you can rub the residue off with a cloth.

Another hint, kero can be used to give a quick, light polish.

It was an old car detailers trick to spray a coat of kero over the roof/bonnet and boot or a car they were trying to trade to another dealer. Parked carefully under the fluro lights the paint looked magic, but the panel beaters screamed their heads off trying to get it back off when they had to respray the car.
