Steve, all is forgiven. I can actually recommend The Red Chief, especially if you travel through Gunnedah at any time. As that is where the book is set and we really were captivated by listening to the story. We could relate a lot of the descriptive passages to areas that we regularly travel. I know that the books and authors we were forced to read had no interest to us as kids. I still hate Shakespeare, but I don't remember having to read "Man Shy". Obviously the system was a failure, even back then.
I have been asked to sign in five times since arriving here tonight. What's happening? Even better though, thank goodness that I remember who I am pretending to be and what password I need to continue in said pretence!!!
The garbage pile has been added to with much gusto. It's amazing how therapeutic it is to find the floor in some places. It is also entertaining watching the cars driving past slowly to give the driver a better look at the junk. We have watched in amazement at people taking stuff off the pile too. One guy drove up, looked furtively around and proceeded to strip the vertical blinds off their tracks and take the tracks. A tv trolley/cupboard that has no wheels disappeared almost as soon as we put it out and a bag of old phones was also taken in a flash. A neighbour asked could she have the old camping chair, and was happy to take it even after hubby told her that the arm was stuffed, so it is useless. People watching is becoming a bad habit around here.
Anyways, it's time for some ugly sleep, so sleep well you lot xxx
