We spent much of today in setting up the stall. Thankfully, all the things that we needed were in the truck and the whole business is now set up and looking great. Tomorrow we start on the trail of our first million

This is the first time the market has been on a Wednesday, so it was different with not aa many peoples as usual. But the usual professional opal buyers were all there. Lots of money changed hands for bags of opals in various conditions. It is amazing to see the amounts of real cash that do change hands. It's all wink wink nod nod stuff. My stuff usually sells on the Saturday, so only did a few sales today and very ok with that outcome.
Standing around, smiling and doing bugga all is more tiring than a busy day, so goodnight from me. xxx
Boys on bloody big mountains, they amaze me. Yes boring and tiring just sitting around but watching the "goings on stuff" is interesting. Helen aka HTFFBO hasn't been well the last few days so she has been ordered to stay in bed and rest. Like talking to the back of the bus that is She'll be ok in a day or so now. Today was pretty dismal. It's obvious that the community is suffering from the drought, so no dough for luxuries. Sales were not great at all, but we are still smiling. The traders are up to mischief and mucking around, so a lot of laughs were had. Some of the European traders were sharing around a huge bottle of slivovitch. They started just after lunchtime, I dont think they will have very calm heads tomorrow, but they were all cheerfully laughing this afternoon. They are outside traders and most of them have their vans behind their stalls, so the DUI wouldn't be happening thankfully.
I am looking for some very ugly sleep tonight, I am stuffed.

Another dismal day at the festival, thankfully I am not reliant on selling stuff to make a living. Lots of those around me are doing it a lot tougher than us. Hopefully tomorrow is the day when the workers come out to play. I am not holding my breath though. Your takings will pick up over the weekend Deborah. You have good quality products, the ones that have all those knitted stuff and ceramic stuff is just a waste. People want real hand made original stuff these days. Have a drinky poo for me after the weekend. My ulcers have bred and exploded tonight so more drugs are required and will be taken with glee. Thanks for the kind words Dot. Even the people with high end opal have been disappointed with poor customer attendance. Our sales were a little better today, but not much. Anyway, that's it for this years Lightning Ridge opal festival. Hopefully it will be better next year. After the farmers get some more rain.
Having a big sleep in tomorrow and a catch up day. Then we head North for even warmer days.
