Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Just for anyone who is doing a long haul travel...we have been listening to audio books on the long straight roads, with much pleasure. Sanity are having quite a good sale on these at the moment. I have been burning the credit card at both ends, :o  but they had several Di Morrissey books at less than $15 and quite a lot of interesting looking titles.

On our Uluru trip, we listened to an Ian Idriess book called The Red Chief (that we bought in a vinnies somewhere). It was about an Aboriginal tribe, their culture, lifestyle and demise. It was such an appropriate book to be listening to, on our outback travels and we both enjoyed it no end. So I have started a collection of these book cds and will be entertained for many hours on our next long trip. I don't know how we will choose which title to start us off, but I am looking forward to them.

It's feeling like it is really midnight so I am off to a warm bed, night night one and all xxx

It was Ian L. Idress when I went to school - 'Man Shy'.

Thanks Steve, sounds right. I am not always perfect!!!

Busy day at the Lair, packing food into van and finding more stuff for the council cleanup pile... so satisfying to see the junk going out finally.

Hope the roads are being kind to you Dot. xxx

Off to warm up now, so nighty night one and all xxx

From my observations on this forum, Deborah, I have never noticed the slightest imperfection! :D I wasn't having a shot at you, rather, I was recalling the strictness of our schooling in those years when such things had to be quoted perfectly. Also, I suspect I would not be the only person on this site who had to study Man Shy. I didn't do too well given I remember nothing more than the author and the title

And now I'll correct myself - another of the grey cells started turning over, as Poirot would say. The author is Ion L. Idriess.

Steve, all is forgiven. I can actually recommend The Red Chief, especially if you travel through Gunnedah at any time. As that is where the book is set and we really were captivated by listening to the story. We could relate a lot of the descriptive passages to areas that we regularly travel. I know that the books and authors we were forced to read had no interest to us as kids. I still hate Shakespeare, but I don't remember having to read "Man Shy". Obviously the system was a failure, even back then. ;) ;)
I have been asked to sign in five times since arriving here tonight. What's happening? Even better though, thank goodness that I remember who I am pretending to be and what password I need to continue in said pretence!!! :o :o :o

The garbage pile has been added to with much gusto. It's amazing how therapeutic it is to find the floor in some places. It is also entertaining watching the cars driving past slowly to give the driver a better look at the junk. We have watched in amazement at people taking stuff off the pile too. One guy drove up, looked furtively around and proceeded to strip the vertical blinds off their tracks and take the tracks. A tv trolley/cupboard that has no wheels disappeared almost as soon as we put it out and a bag of old phones was also taken in a flash. A neighbour asked could she have the old camping chair, and was happy to take it even after hubby told her that the arm was stuffed, so it is useless. People watching is becoming a bad habit around here.

Anyways, it's time for some ugly sleep, so sleep well you lot xxx
