Too damned hot

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Yes It really makes you wonder. How the hell did our pioneers, (yes I'm only talking about QLD coal mines) work in these hot conditions many moons ago!! Yes records show it was bloody hot back then too!
Gee they did not have air conditioning, not like me. Had a shower Monday lunch after night shift, walked from shower into bedroom of Donga and thought " mmm IT must be warm outside my feet felt hot on the floor even though I only had the the air con on a mild 25 deg's.
Ok not a nice thought for some
Just a side note: drive over to Glendon QLD from Eureka Village Moranbah every swing to see my fiance vie the Red hill road (%^%^&&^% rough is an under statement) past Lake Elphinestone. This Lake is a beautiful spot but it needs urgent rain. Yes nice spot to camp but can no longer swim there!
Last year on the hot days it was nice there because the breezes mainly come of the water!!
But now take your swag and a mozzie net up here!!!

Just got back home after an Adelaide Airport pickup for Christmas.
Got down to 39 as I topped the Lofty Ranges but the nearer to Mannum we got up to 44 at 4PM.
At least it's stopped the baby spoggies from their continual chirp chirp chirp.....

PS. Just read your post Wayne .....

Got to 42 here in the shade on the back verandah where the sun never gets to heat it up, much hotter out in the yard. Still 39 at 5.45 pm and still as no breeze and the sky is a weird colour with a tinge of smoke.

45.2 at Glenelg at 6.35pm. That's not fair.

F’cast here is 44... which probably means 48+ at our house.
Yesterday was f’cast for 41... we saw 48!
And the smoke haze from the NSW fires makes breathing outdoors unpleasant.
Maybe we could put a sign on the north bank of the Murray,
“Smoke not permitted beyond this point.”
🙄😁

I presume much the same as they do today. They just got on with it.
My youngest boy is a roofing plumber. I asked him how he got on with these 40+ days. He just answered, "Drink plenty of water and keep exposed skin covered"

Seriously? I admire his work ethic but there are limits. No way I would entertain getting up on a roof in this heat.

The question I agree with is how the hell any of us got on in days past with no AC? I distinctly remember tossing and turning all night when its still 30+ degrees in the bedroom.
I walking into my bedroom last night to turn on the AC prior to going to bed. The thermometer on my clock said 38*. I can't imagine even thinking about going to bed without AC.

Maybe I'm getting too old. There is a rumour going around that may be the case.

In my younger days I worked in the mines at Kalgoorlie, and yes it gets hot in Kal !
We used to go underground for relief from the heat as it's a constant 65F down there.
The house I was living in was a standard Kal miners house with wood on the outside and tin inner walls
For cooling you dampened hessian and hung it in the breezeway doorway.
Night time the "Esperance Doctor" ( breeze from the south ) came in at about 9.30 / 10 pm and made sleeping a bit easier.

Being from Vic I just had to get used to it, when I went back to Vic for family visits etc I nearly froze at 20 deg :(

So the warm spell we're having over here at the moment is a little unusual -30 to 40 for days on end - but being Perth you have to expect this
The beauty of the heat here is that it's mainly dry , if you had temps like here for days over east and with their humidity people would be wilting like dying flowers.
