Thought for Today

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

There were fourteen of us kids living in a pothole in the middle of the road.
We had to lick the hole clean before going to work in t’factory where we worked 26 hours a day for no pay.

Cardboard box in middle of road? Not good option in fire storm or flood  Concrete pipe be better, standing up, sealed round bottom to keep water out 8-)

Now here's something to think about. We have been giving the Millennials heaps about only socialising via social media and not face to face, now who gets the last laugh?

How do you put a millennial into self quarantine? They never leave the house anyway and rarely even leave their bedroom. There is a chance they will separate themselves even further from those old folk in the house that insist on going outside and mixing with other people to reduce the risk of catching something. They will be safe as long as the Uber Eats and Menu Log drivers don't get the virus, or those making their pizza or Macca's doesn't infect their food. The only way you'd know they were really ill with the virus is if the fast food deliveries stopped arriving meaning their thumbs could no longer operate the smart phone

How come there is only a stairway to heaven, but there is a highway to hell.

Is it because of expected traffic numbers?

Most of us will be going to hell, where all the people I know and associate with are or going. So no need for a highway to heaven, just a stairway to nothingness. The highway to hell will be overflowing with everyone having a good time and enjoying the grid lock as we glide down hill, whilst the stair way to heaven, will be clogged with those struggling upwards. :D :o

They need those going to heaven to be fit and active, so they put in stairs to cull out the lazy couch potatoes. Why do they need them to be fit and active? Every night they have to put the stars out in the correct position for that period of the celestial calendar, put the moon out with the appropriate shading and move it across the sky in a smooth arc, then put it away and do the same thing with the sun. Then there are the other tasks that have been classed as "an act of god" that need to administered and organised in a manner that suits the insurance industry, then there is the mail room and call centre where all messages must be vetted to clear out the blasphemy and pointless requests from those too lazy to fix the problems themselves or mail redirect to the appropriate deity like Trump, Scomo and al the others that think they aregods gift to the world, before forwarding them on the heaven board of directors, all 4 of them. As you can see, a very busy place so they need the fit and active ;)

Another of those deep thinking type Thought for Today.
Was/is the global economy a smart move in the light of this latest pandemic? We have stopped supporting local manufacture based a lot on price, but if the rest of the global economy shuts up shop from lack of trade like many of the local companies, will the world end up on restricted supply and prices go through the roof?
What happens if the self isolation and bans extend to the merchant navy? No reason they couldn't contract the virus from heavily infected countries and bring it into Australia via the commercial ports.

Terry,

Take that a further step. How will Tassy fair with a 14 day quarantine requirement?

Get of the boat; park. wait 14 days. get on the boat go home.

Sadly Jon, that's the way things go in emergency situations and everyone down here I know has been demanding Tas close our borders to anyone, other than Tasmania residents, excepting trade of course and they have finally seceded to that demand and hopefully not to late.

As for Terry's post regarding the economy and globalisation, that insanity has left Aus and other countries vulnerable to many dire situations. One of the most important is local industry, which the politicians have virtually destroyed and it doesn't matter whether they allow trade in and out of Aus, what does matter is industrial countries which supply us are shutting down and may not be able to supply for quite a while.

This is no different to a war situation and our government over the last 5 decades have destroyed the ability of the country sport itself in all aspects of life. All our defenses rely upon overseas companies, we make a piddling number of small arms and that's it. Many decades ago we made everything and had the most advanced defence force on the planet, other than nuclear. Now we rely upon overseas vested interests and we have no fuel, not even any reserves, all our gas is exported as is our iron ore and just about every raw commodity.

We have been sold out by ideological deranged morons and the results of that, may well be a complete economic and sociological collapse. Not a good scenario, but it's been looking that way for the last 2 decades and very few people have done anything to secure their ability to survive though a real collapse. The governments have done the opposite, sold off our infrastructure, services and manufacturing, so we as a country have no capacity or ability to manufacture goods, defence systems, vehicles or heavy machinery.

Nothing we can do whilst we have the same old, same old ideological insanity and a voting system which provides political parties with certainty of having their useless clones elected. Just hope it doesn't last so long as to destroy many jobs and small business.

Qantas is throwing many thousands of employees out the door, but the moron who runs the company rakes in around 16 million dollars a year, whilst rationalising the company into oblivion and creating unemployment. Why don't governments make him and all the other morons who have been ripping of the public purse and the people, pay back all the money they've taken and use it to keep people employed.

Bet not one of the billionaires or millionaires, will give any of the money they've stolen over the decades to help the situation, they will just keep hoarding it and sacking their workers.

Terry, is there any way to stop me being logged out whilst writing a post and also how do you get rid of that cookie thing that keeps popping up at the bottom of the page. I have cookies enabled for this site, but delete them as soon as I log out.
