Well being accused by the media didn't pay off this time.
He's taken the media/ reporter to court with defamation.
Now the media will have to prove he did rape her, instead of him having to prove he didn't.
I think this will be an interesting precedent in the accusation by the media.

He named himself. Fact
He is innocent till proven guilty. Fact.
Going after the media by suing for defamation put the onus on the plaintiff. This could backfire. That's speculation.
There are thousands of justifiably angry females who have been and continue to be abused, nearly all by men.
Fact.

I'm just giving an opinion, I'm not saying rape or any molestation is forgivable in any way !
But I'm glad you said "nearly all by men"
Women are abusers too, and when I reported it I was dismissed as being "Imaginative" ( actual word used)

Its not about settling.
Its about not perpetuating misogeny. Plus just because some women misbehave, doesnt make them all the same. The fact remains that our illustrious parliament is a toxic place. No one party has a stranglehold, though the right seems to have a firm grip.

Re: Thought for Today
Is it possible the "suing the media" was an attempt to stop even more information becoming public because it was now part of a legal action ...... The whole thing could have been stopped in it's tracks if they had launched an inquiry into the whole affair including the other allegations of high profile politician's lying to the public and the parliament .... but that could really hurt those involved. govts have been toppled for less, the Whitlam govt dismissal comes to mind, imagine if a full inquiry was launched into that one, members of the royal family would have toppled along with most of the new govt ......
Diversionary tactics is a trademark of how the current govt operates, this could be just another play at the tried and tested "look over there" tactic in an attempt to reduce the possibility spotlighting ministerial actions will cause even more questions to be asked .... anyone noticed that the questions about Scomo knowing about the rape allegations well before he says he first heard have suddenly vanished????
The wonderful thing about the ABC and something the govt still hasn't learnt after all these years, it's never a clever move to poke the bear when the cage door is open ......
Sports rorts, security upgrade funding that was questionable at the least, specialised treatment for select visa approvals .... how many more can you thing of .... what if the ABC starts a specials series about all these questionable affairs, then does a back up history on the same sort of thing back over the years and brings the whole ethics of party politics into question? That one would be really hard to smoke screen and could cause a major shift in politics that none of the parties can control ..... don't poke the bear ......

I have less support for women after seeing signs at the Canberra rally that "all men rape"

For many of those women that is exactly how it feels. As much about the lack of power as the act.

Re: Thought for Today
I wonder how that would react to a rally of men with signs reading "All women whore" and "All women cheat on their partners". A blanket statement that is clearly wrong because it uses the word "All", "some" would be closer to the truth and hard to deny .......
The sooner both sexes realise they need to work together, that one sex can be better at a given task than the other and it works both ways, there should be a pay scale based on ability to do a task and the genuine value in financial terms of that task.
Not something I can see will be sorted any time soon, maybe a strike on the part of each sex to not provide services to the other sex and highlight true equality .... you drive the car, you check under the bonnet, change the tyres and schedule and pay for the maintenance ....
Back in my mechanic workshop days the stunned look on women recently separated from a long term relationship when they received the bill for servicing on their car that they took with them because they believed it was "owed to them." Apparently the actual cost of vehicle ownership was never fully realised in most cases and the offer of "trade of services" was initially quite a shock because I had known both parties for quite some time as friends ..... the value many seemed to believe the "services they were offering" was often quite laughable but I did my best to be "sensitive" in regards to their pride in the way I declined the offers. There were many stories around the trade where some were not quite as sensitive ... like "You'd have to be one hell of a lay to cover this account" ..... so it appeared I was not the only male that had the "offer" put to them ....

In the motor trade it was ( and still is ) a regular offering of services for any repairs that cost over their estimated value.
I used to offer to increase the account by $500.
When asked "WHY?"
I would sincerely reply "for stud services", and in the couple of times there was a persistence offering I'd be brutal and say it was cheaper in StKilda.
So I never saw them again .............. not a big loss !
Most of these rallies seem to bring out the pack mentality, and as we've all seen, that's never a good thing.
Men or women !
