George my iPad is almost 10 years old too, we also have a Toshiba computer 8years & Dell computer 16 years old.

We had ruggedised covers fitted to all our work iPads, when they issued them. They really did a good job and saved quite a few from failure. I don't recall any of them being damaged accidentally. It was a bit different with phones though.

My iPad which has a solid cover too fell from the bed one night when I was using it in the Coaster, hit the aluminium step & broke the screen, next day had new screen fitted in Coffs Harbour think it was about $70 was under $100, never missed a beat since, I'm only thinking of upgrading for new technology & I have 4 g'sons all wanting this old iPad.

Dave, I have a phone, not a smart phone, a flip phone, which has fallen from my pocket onto the roof of the bus and then onto the concrete twice without damage. My smart phone sits in a drawer at home until I go away and need it for data.
