Re: Thought for Today
Why do all modern toasters have a setting which turns the bread into charcoal not even a hungry dog would eat?

Re: Thought for Today
At the supermarket today I noticed in the refrigerated section they had “cured ham”.
Obviously it wasn’t cured… it was dead!

Re: Thought for Today
Dottie,
They're all made in China these days!
Doesn't matter which brand, the top setting reduces bread to a carbonised mess.
I'm quite satisfied with the performance of ours, provided I don't use it at 100%. (That should be labelled 'Charcoal'!)
I set ours at about 60~70% for a good deep (unburnt) colour, depending on the type of bread.
SWMBO prefers warmed bread, barely coloured.

Re: Thought for Today
When our toaster is set to cook toast golden brown, it takes two cycles to cook a muffin. I did turn it up to cook my muffins the way I like, but Margaret put some bread into toast for soup later in the day resulting in all the doors open and fans on to clear the smoke ..... lesson learnt, don't mess with he toaster settings

Re: Thought for Today
Don't you just buy the Toast Bread from the shop? It's already toasted.
Japanese toast bread is just magnificent. Thick, super soft and has a magic flavour.
Even better when spread with butter and honey.
