"tanks" here---
Just listen to Dr Harry the tv vet and he said not to feed magpies with mince. I searched the web and found this:-
Feeding Magpies
Feeding magpies and other wild birds is a controversial topic among many animal lovers. Should we, or should we not be feeding them? Are we causing more harm than good?
In some circumstances, we sadly are causing more harm than good, especially when nutritional deficiencies develop from people feeding them inappropriate food – these most common foods being bread and plain mince.
You may have been unaware of the damage this can cause up until now, but please don’t feel guilty about it 🙂 Before I knew much about birds, I too admit that I was feeding them the wrong things!
Having heard my fair share of comments such as – ‘What a load of rubbish, I have never seen a magpie with a nutritional deficiency from being fed the wrong food!’. As a licensed wildlife carer, I specialise in caring for magpies. Each year, I and many other wildlife carers and Vets, have witnessed first-hand just what the ramifications of inappropriate feeding can do to a bird. Let me tell you, it is not pretty and it is absolutely heartbreaking, BUT can possibly be avoided!
⚠️ Magpie parents feed their nestlings a great deal of what people them. These birds require the correct nutrients to ensure their little ones grow up strong and healthy so they can avoid crippling abnormalities such as – soft/broken beaks, bone abnormalities, deformities, seizures, and improper feather growth.

Re: Thought for Today
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Tanks,
That would explain something we came across in WA.
We house-sat for a couple where there was a whole family of magpies which came in for a daily feed. All of them had deformed feet.

You know you’re getting older when the pensioners’ insurance company advertises using a retired rock musician from the era after you moved on from rock music.

Re: Thought for Today
Hospital check-up day today.
As we left, parked outside the entrance was a Red Cross van. Across the back door it said, “Patient Transport Vehicle”…
I guess that means the vehicles with the red & blue lights on the roof are “Impatient Transport Vehicles”
BTW all is sweetness and light on my medical tests.
