Talking about Jake Brakes, we now have our exhaust brake fully operational. Our mechanic found the butterfly completely seized so we headed off to Cummins to buy a replacement. We were quoted $1500 just for the butterfly assembly (not in stock and would take 10 days ex USA). On returning to the mechanic he had successfully dismantled and rebuilt the old one saving us huge dollars.

Every time we source parts from Cummins they seem very very expensive. Another component we have replaced on this service is a fan belt tensioner. Cummins $350, a generic brand from Consolidated Bearing Company was $189.

Another very expensive part we bought back at Cummins in Perth was a $99 fan belt.

So finally, we have found a very experienced and proficient plus honest mechanic. It is a pity that the CMCA can't create a members benefit of approved, competent and honest mechanics.

George put 2 extra extractor fans in behind the genny for while we run the air con whilst on the move.. For some reason there didn't seem to be enough airflow going over /around the genny. That was on advice from Honda
