I finally have the EB Falcon back on the road. Petrol systems certainly don't enjoy sitting for long periods. It took a number of days and 3 bottles of metho to get the majority of the varnish or possibly shellac build up out of the tank and fuel lines. Went in clear, came out looking like wood stain, turned 3 chucks wipe type cloths rigid when they dried just wiping the tank out, the 3rd bottle was pumped through the fuel pipes after replacing the fuel filter, and that lot came out looking much like the stuff from the fuel tank.
Finally got the correct battery, the "cheap as crap" parts interpreter/store manager assured my that all Fords used round terminals and I must have changed the cables

and didn't appreciate that my 50 yrs in the trade was more than twice the time he had been alive and they most certainly left the factory with flat mount terminals.
A trip to Repco, and the same nonsense, gave up and bought 2 universal terminals so I could attach the flat cables ... installed the battery, pulled the plastic caps of and ... there were the flat terminal mounting spots
Started virtually first go, ran a bit rough after a while, took it for a drive into Mannum to buy a carton of "steak in a glass" and realised I hadn't fitted the new number plates

U turn, rectified the problem, drove ok, sure didn't stop to flash, might have been 6 yrs plus of rust on the discs, still idled poorly.
A check over this morning, fuel spraying out the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hole, raw fuel being sucked into the manifold causing the rough run, so need another one of those, emptied the sludge out of the brake reservoir and wiped it out clean and refilled with new fluid, 1 ltr oil in the auto and 1 ltr in the sump and all good to go.
So now we have a vehicle that can carry more than 2 people on the road ..... the Prius is the next project after watching the predicted fuel prices over the next mth or so
