Went to the GP yesty, got the last lot of test results. I think all the poking and prodding is finished now. Did not much else except wash the cars, under the carport, out of the sun.
We are off to the local caravan and camping show today. Going to try to find a new, efficient roof rattler, or maybe a split system if it will fit somewhere.

What brand/model roof rattler do you have Dave? We will be removing the IBUS Mk 2 and replacing it with a rooftop fan vent that will still operate with the vent closed

It fits in the same hole the aircon came out of, the inside bit is level with the ceiling and there will be a gap between the timber strips running down the centre, so I'll either replace those with longer ones or fit a light each side to take up the gap.

I'm looking at replacing the belt driven compressor with an electric driven unit so the front AC vents can run without the engine running .... and maybe a unit big enough for a second head unit for the bedroom .... a future project.

T1, is your Ibis an inverter start unit? If yes, and it is still fully functional, then maybe we can negotiate a suitable arrangement.
I was a bit disappointed with the turnout of M/homes today. Avida not represented at all. Hundreds of different van and camper manufacturers on site though. No Dometic or Thetford distributor or reseller either. We did buy a big groundmat though. Recycled plastic of some sort.
That was our day.

Yep she bought a plant , I spent $5 on some peanut's .
Done a tour of this camp, old mate has some vintage/classic cars and caravans. Plus they had a pizza nite not something I would normally eat... still have the same opinion don't like the stuff..
Today we are going into Howard again having lunch at the pub.
And it's Sunday bacon and eggs
Even while camping .
Not pig... this time is bacon beef.

Good morning everyone, 20c prediction 27c maximum today, sunny, cloudy & a little hazy at the moment.
The house on the western side of us, is having all decking & stairs to the lake replaced with a type of synthetic board, looks great matches their tiles, use to be stained board.

Actually, you do not need to replace the belt-driven compressor, it's quite a simple process to fit a second parallel electric compressor and have a change-over switch relay to reroute the gas flow through the electric compressor.
Turn the ignition on and it uses the motor compressor, key off, uses electric compressor and 240V condensor fan = Simples
Your main problem will be a 240v fan big enough to keep the condensor in the circuit, a simple process if you have some old condensor units laying around to "borrow" a good fan from.

A/C for plant equipment used to be my specialty when the R.O.P.S ( Roll Over Protection ) was brought into force many years ago.

Thanks Ron, I've been trying to get my head around what size the compressor needs to be and if I could add a second head unit in the bedroom if I did the dual compressor thing, would the belt driven unit be big enough to do both?
I still haven't found the condenser location, but then I haven't really looked. I can mount 24v fans on it if I can find it so it can run off the start batteries when the engine is running and the house batteries when parked up.

I did think about the electric air con system in the salvage MG4 I bought, it has reverse cycle and a heat exchanger because it also controls battery temp and motor transaxle and inverter temp along with climate control in the cabin, but I think I'll keep that intact for the big project of turning my '74 Kombi into an EV.

Terry you almost never will have main area & bedroom on at the same time.
I have ..............
The models are

Indoor units

2.0kw : NJ020DHXEAXSA

5.0kw : NJ050DHXEAXSA



Outdoor unit

5.0kw : RJ050F2HXEA/XSA

If I have both units on, the one with the lowest temp setting gets the gas until temp is up & then both get proportion.
So if it's 42 degrees at midnight & I'm thinking of going to bed I set bedroom to 24 & lounge to 25.
So basically I get the 2Kw to bedroom & 3 to lounge.
Of course it's an inverter unit & remote for each head.
