Re: Thought for Today
I've not achieved 4 of the things on the list, A good night's sleep would be an achievement I'd cherish, 2 hrs at a time at best is not a good nights sleep in my opinion ....... calm and boring days isn't high on my wish list, time and health aren't something you can achieve so not something I can work towards or have achieved if I'd done things differently, they are two cards in the hand you were dealt that you can discard, but not to your advantage ....
Wow, such philosophy at this time of the evening .... lucky I had SCAN earlier

Re: Thought for Today
Time...
We had a lecturer once talk about time. It's the most important thing you can give someone.
It's something the giver can never get back.
If someone gives you their time, treat it with the greatest respect.
Time can also be easily wasted. There is a fine line between enjoying quite or productive time and wasting time. YouTube surfing is a classic example of how to step over the line.

Hardly anything in my house is mine.
My screwdrivers are Philips.
My dictionary is Collins.
The icecream in my freezer is Peters.
Even the ladders in my garage are not mine.
They’re my step ladders.

Re: Thought for Today
The latest predictions from Bill Gates, A I will replace doctors and tutors ...... what about the legal profession?
Every precedent will be looked up in milliseconds and a ruling made based on the facts as presented, rather than human emotion ..... precedents will no longer occur and all cases will speed through the court process without costing a fortune, corporate and political interference will be a thing of the past .....
Should I have posted this in the Joke Section?
How good would it be to see a line of legal professionals at the dole office and then the employment providers .... then handing out orange vests and shovels because they would be regarded as unskilled workers because their skill set was no longer in demand ..... much like the poor bugga who processed those roles of holiday snaps through the happy snapper 2000, might have been at the top of his profession, but the need for film processing machine operators these days is zero ....

Re: Thought for Today
I seriously doubt whether that will ever completely occur. A computer can only use the information that has been correctly input. A doctor can do a few tests to judge what the issue is.
The medical profession looks after the medical profession
As does the legal profession look after the legal.
The insurance companies will never let it happen either. They use human emotion to twist things one way or the other.
My GP is uses A I to do a fair bit of research, and he says its only as smart as how it has been input.

Which is the same as the doctor. He's only as smart as how much he has read and learnt. My GP is uses A I to do a fair bit of research, and he says its only as smart as how it has been input.
Once AI understands how to keep going deeper and become more inquisitive to join the dots, it will all be over.

Re: Thought for Today
I doubt they will replace the medical researcher, but they will assist them with results from other researches and the methods they used so they can duplicate the process and see if the finding are the same. This eliminates the time consuming trials and result analysis so they can move on to the next stage that hasn't been researched yet. This saves a lot of wasted investment in duplicate research and speeds up the results per $$ invested .... and eliminates monopolies by drug companies, that way reducing the cost of the drugs to the patients requiring them, and recording any strange side affects ..... like that magic little blue pill that treated ED, it was originally trialled as a cardiovascular treatment to dilate heart blood vessels .... it was useless for that, but the test recipients that got the actual drug, compared to the ones who received the placebo, all reported a major improvement in other areas thought to have passed over to the other side
Who knows, a treatment intended for ED could be a life saver for certain cancers or regrow hair or stop depression .... well, if it did the ED thing and the bloke had somewhere to operate it, that could be a major depression reliever and sleep assistant
