Nah, he's (the mayor) a she and she now lives on the wrong side of the overpass. It's going to make for some interesting trip planning for a lot of people for a while.
Much like the Mt Ousley freeway connecting road when a truck did similar damage. That was the bridge that connected major older Wollongong residential suburbs as well as the university and teacher college, to the uni accommodation and the rest of Wollongong.
Single lane each way roads had to handle all that traffic, a pedestrian bridge became a bottle neck for all the uni students, particularly if a mobility device was involved and a complete slow down if one from each direction met anywhere on the bridge .... barely wide enough for them to pass ..... the road bridge footpaths had been the major pedestrian path previously ..... took mths to fix, but life returned to normal afterwards, it caused absolute chaos on the road though, that is the major connecting link for the coal trucks and all trucks heading to Port Kembla and the Port Kembla harbour, as well as access to the South Coast for everyone ......

The good thing is that nobody was seriously hurt.The driver was taken to hospital for a checkup but released overnight. The bad thing is that it's the main highway west from Brisbane to Toowoomba and points further west.
The sad thing is that it could have all be avoided with a better communication system.
Regardless, it's going to cost someone a lot of money to fix it.

You would have thought that someone in charge of management of that place would have seen the water level rising and used that time to get the poor bloody things out. I first saw that evacuations were happening at around 11pm last night.
