Re: Thought for Today
Here's another I have lifted from Farcebook. Can't think of a worse way to desecrate a Kombi.I hope it's only a fibreglass report job.

Re: Thought for Today
Dave,
If the lala who came up with this did the usual conversion into a camper, he could then put the chopper part on autopilot and have a good snooze!
Just sayin’ …

Re: Thought for Today
The doors are split window Kombi, you can see the dents in the drives door. I'm guessing the front section is as well, to get the strength to hang the doors, but everything else is rivetted aluminium sheet by the look of it, including the repair to the lower section of the driver's door.supersparky wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:29 pm Here's another I have lifted from Farcebook. Being split window era Kombi, my guess is the rest was rusted out. Split window era rust from the inside out, none of the inner panels had rust proofing or good sealing at the joints, so they filled with dust and moisture and rusted away ....

News item:
Archaeologists are currently excavating the world’s largest dinosaur tibia.
Apparently it’s a really big shindig.

Re: Thought for Today
I’M SO OLD, I remember loading a roll of film into a Kodak camera, taking the used film to the Chemist (not the ‘Pharmacy’!) and waiting a week to find out that I had taken 36 photos of my forefinger.

I remember the 125 24 shot cartridge you put in the camera, and the polaroid that made a brief come back .... till the kids had to buy their own refill cartridges, the novelty died real quick then

Re: Thought for Today
I also had a Kodak 110 with the pre-loaded cartridges.
Mine even had a “telephoto” lens you could slide across the standard lens.
Fun for a while… until I could afford to buy a 35mm SLR, for which I accumulated a collection of lenses from an ‘almost fisheye’ 21mm to a 400mm ‘proper’ telephoto — zoom lens technology didn’t produce sharp enough images in those days — so I bought a “doubler attachment” which converted ALL my lenses… the 400mm became 800mm etc, all the way down to the 21mm/42mm! (That was so close to the 50mm it was hard to tell the difference in photos, so never used.)
My five lenses turned into an effective eight (same problem with the 28mm).
Had lots of fun doing my own B&W developing, for a while.
Then I met Joy…
