They are dog steps Dottie, I can't imagine them taking the weight of Margaret or myself, and how do I get out to get them out of the storage bin anyway ......
I can get lots of different steps that can be deployed from outside, but I have to be able to get outside first
The electric steps are about the only solution, you can be sure Winnebago would have used something cheaper if it would have done the job .......

Why not install a lift.

Use the hydraulics from the leveling device. Your halfway there. Plus you van use the switch that was meant to retract the steps originally.

Original, no one has done it before. Right up your alley.

? Will the washing machine and batteries cause a problem when replacing the steps?

T1,
Our GIRT had the same internal steps and a double electrically powered retractable step.
We had to be careful to allow space when we parked alongside a kerb. So the step to the ground was less than the height of the standard council gutters.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Thought about that, along with the idea of a sliding platform to create a small patio outside the door, and the steps to open towards the front of the Winnie, the same idea I had for Big Bus, that way I only needed to clearance between the gutter and the Winnie to be enough for the steps width, roughly 250mm .... a handrail would need to be added for safety when deployed for any length of time ..... a lift that wound up the platform is another idea, maybe even a fold out set of steps that folded back in to match the inside steps to create a flat floor ..... all Ideas I had thought of for big bus that could be added at a later date ..... the escalator might be a bit over the top though ;)

The washing machine and batteries would need some though when the sideways steps were deployed, all can be worked around, I'm sure of it ..... :D

Why not install a slide out too. Then you could fit a round stair case or a cork screw slide.

The possibilities are endless. What I like is - how it's only going to take a week to sort out.

Which give you more time to do the wiring for the hybrid.

Is that before or after the 56 volt sodium system with an odd number of cells?

I was never interested in a slide-out, I;ve seen far too many failures with the things.

We had half a corkscrew staircase when I wiped the steps out on the tree ..... maybe the steps fold up individually into the inside of a panel that replaces the hinged locker door to wards the rear of the Winnie, then the handrail would already be there when the steps cane out ..... how's that for an idea ;)

Realised the steps can't go forward, that it the direction the door hinges .... why didn't you mention that Jon, now I'll have to start a new CAD plan ......

The gas tanks are out and now at the testing station in Adelaide ..... the first one said leave a message, we turned up there and a bloke who was remodelling the workshops told us the testing mob had been gone for more than 6 mths .....
Directed us to another testing station that said they were only open Tuesdays .... FFS, it was Monday and now around 5pm ..... tried the phone numbers, got yet another "leave a message" but we were outside the gates .... so I used the gates next door to get into the compound ..... every size cyl that stands up you can think of were stacked around this place, a door was open so a Hello got a rather angry response from a lady working there, mighty pissed off that she was left doing all the work .... but she helped me unload the two gas tanks and said in a week ..... I thought that was fair, she was testing around 30 scuba diving tanks at that point.
Heading home, around an hr later, get a phone call from the bloke I left the message with .... but I'd left so many messages at so many places, it was a case of narrowing down just which place it was .... turned out to be the place I'd already dropped the tanks off at .... no wonder she was pissed off ..... management seemed to be non existent ......

The replacement steps arrived today, so did the inverter replacement job, so the steps will have to wait a few days .....
