I think the standing since the return from the Wollongong trip may have started rust scale forming on the water pump shaft around the seal area
Most definitely. Just pump it with silicon. That's how you fixed the Ford Cargo.

 I'd have to strip the front out to get the fan off to remove the water pump pulley to even find the pump drain hole  The Ford Cargo was a much easier job to locate the drain holes and pump them full enough to slow the fountain, it was leaking bad enough for water to spout out of both the top and bottom drain hole  I think it might have been why he sold the truck cheap, there were no water pumps to be had anywhere for a 680 cu in slant 6 Ford diesel. When we stripped it down, the only thing left of the seal was the brass housing the seal lived in, the rest was gone.
Jerry made me one using various farm water pump bearing assemblies and seal bits, machined and shortened each end of the shaft and bored the cast housing to hold the bearing ..... the combined bits of the seals were still not quite enough to make a press fit, so they got glued in place ..... still works fine and holds water after around 10 yrs .....

If the workshop and lathes, boring machines etc where still in operation, I'd probably attempt a similar repair for the Winnie, but finding another machinist with Jerry's skill level on a manual lathe and boring machine would probably be as hard as it has been to locate a replacement pump ... in hindsight, it probably would have been faster though ....

Prius is the one with a towbar, we had to take the trailer, so it had to be the Prius.

Don't understand about this bit
when did you change to the Winnie
how did the steps get bashed into a tree?
A 4 X 4 came the other way, towing a trailer, up the centre line of the road, forcing me to swear left. The steps wouldn't fold in properly on their own, so they were sticking out the left side, and collected a tree growing on the edge of the road .... it must have just been fluke timing thing that the tree met the step at the same time as I was swearing left, resulting in the tree hitting the steps back into the Winnie, yet I somehow missed hitting the tree with the body of the Winnie or the trailer on the back .....
What about the Q I asked about the council / shed?
Not sure which one of the many questions you asked, you are asking now

The next plan is to get a 40ft container and another 20 ft container, delivered to the yard so I can build a roof over the top. We still have one of the 20 ft containers was carted some of the gear from the Illawarra on the back of the truck, I could use the truck to pick up the second container, but 3 mths rego and a crane to get it off the truck at this end, it is cheaper to use the local transport company, that has recently purchased a container lift trailer, to do the whole job and help them pay down some of that purchase cost at the same time .... sort of that "looking after your town" thing I guess ......

Once I have them set up, I want to put one of these over it https://www.qualitydomesdirect.com.au/p ... back-wall/ well, either a 40ft version or two of those with a back wall. I want it to cover the top of both containers, so I'd need one 12mtr wide ..... so I'm guessing might be from a different supplier ..... or maybe an A frame roof over both containers 12 mtrs wide by 14 mtr long, so I have a bit of a covered area at the front .... but that might be real expensive, require all the building permits and yet another thing to be dismantled when the house with the shed is built .... the 3 container, delivered and installed, will cost around the $10,000 mark, the 2 x 20 foot domes advertised will add another $3,000, maybe just a tin roof over the containers might be a lot cheaper ..... I'll probably have to run all this by the council, next door didn't get council permits for their 40fter ...... is it better to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission? I know that worked out for a place just down the road from the Purnong Rd house, the built a jetty, then paid the fine, cheaper and easier than getting a permit .......

I went back though two pages of you posts in your profile, no Blue additive question ... my fragile brain couldn't handle more than 2 pages ;)

Margaret's foot is at physio stage now, healed up nicely, just need to get the strength back now. The bowel camera work can back good, yet another plus for giving up smoking .... no more flare-ups of the ulcerated colitis .....

The first tree v steps happen in the Hay free camp on the way back from Wollongong, the latest on was Tuesday ......

Only the ex taxi Prius is off the road, the silver one is still doing service and is the second drive car.

No interest in a barn house, Margaret knows what she wants as far as a house, not gunna fight that if I want my workshop
First stop is the builder, can it even be built and they will know the ins and outs of council approvals.

There is a container dome set up in the new estate as you reach the end of Mannum Rd, just up from the solar farm on the other side of the road. Who knows when it comes to councils  If I ask and they say no .... what then? I'll enquire with the dome makers as far as their experience with councils .... they have never mentioned the 20 ft container in the yard over the last 10 yrs or so ........

Terry, are you planning to put the dome up in the old workshop site or at the house site. We have used those domes as site sheds at construction jobs for years. I reckon they are great. From what little I know, you will never get permission to park a container in a residential premises, but should have no issue in an industrial area. You may get a different answer if it is classed rural area though. Is the old workshop concrete floor still there?

Dot, that blue stuff is called Ad Blue. It is for late model diesels to do a particulate filter burn. It is not for your model engine.
Do NOT put it in your fuel tank. It is not a fuel additive.

A kid on a bike wouldn't have been solid enough to push the steps back in Jon
Get serious, like I'd pass that close to a kid on a bike even with the steps folded in .... I sure hope you don't
